How many volunteers are fighting at the front — Bloomberg
Mobilization in Ukraine remains an important issue, even after the legislation was tightened in May. It is known that only about 25% of those fighting at the front are volunteers.
This was reported by Bloomberg on Wednesday, November 20.
Mobilization in Ukraine
According to data from the Ministry of Defense, only 25% of men and women fighting on the frontlines were volunteers, while the rest were conscripts.
In addition to issuing standard draft notices, TCC staff patrol public spaces and stop vehicles on roads to enlist men eligible for mobilization.
"Dozens of men have died, and hundreds have been detained while attempting to cross the border illegally. Others are already abroad. Some stay at home for weeks to avoid conscription," the report states.
As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a law granting civilians who survived Russian captivity the right to defer mobilization. It also simplifies the procedure for granting a deferments to those whose relatives are missing.
Also, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the situation on the front line depended mainly on the number of troops. He recommended that Ukraine increase its efforts in this direction.
